Successful Presentation Of LAZ Trolley Buses In Kyiv PDF Print E-mail

On the 4th of March 2006 there was a presentation of a new elaboration of JSC “Lvivsky Automobilny Zavod” – an 18-metre articulated trolley bus LAZ-E291, having no analogues in Ukraine.

The Mayor of Kyiv Oleksandr Omelchenko participated in the presentation and highly appreciated this Lviv elaboration. In particular he pointed out:

“Kyiv citizens have today a possibility to see a high level of quality, security and comfort of JSC “Lvivsky Automobilny Zavod” buses, which “Kyivpastrans” has purchased for the capital. Last year Kyiv municipal auto park of passenger’s transport was enlarged by 140 new low-floor buses LAZ-A183 “City”. In the near future we are waiting for a production run of LAZ-E183 trolley buses, manufactured on the basis of “City” LAZ. This March we are holding a tender for supply of 100 large and very large total capacity trolley buses for Kyiv. JSC “Lvivsky Automobilny Zavod” is going to take part in the tender with its model LAZ-E291 presented today. This is really civilized transport of the European and world level. Together with “City” LAZ new trolley buses LAZ-E183 and 18-metre articulated trolley buses LAZ-E291 are characterized, first of all, by comfort, high quality and availability thanks to low floor along the whole salon. This guarantees convenience for elderly people and people with limited physical abilities.”

Note: First low-floor trolley bus LAZ-E183 was presented on the 23rd of August 2005 at the Kyiv metro station “Boryspilska” opening ceremony. In October 2005 this new elaboration successfully passed the tests and certification in Lviv, then LAZ-E183 was tested in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhya and Mykolayv. This trolley bus won the tender held by “Kyivpastrans” for the supply of 45 trolley buses for the capital. There are signed contracts with Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Vinnytsya and Chernivtsi. There is a great interest showed by customers from CIS countries as well.

Convenience for wheelchair invalids, namely: free moving in the trolley bus, special space in the salon and additional hand-rails, is provided in the presented 18-metre trolley bus LAZ-E291, as well as in LAZ-E183.

Note: The JSC “Lvivsky Automobilny Zavod” designers began the elaboration of an 18-metre articulated trolley bus LAZ-E291 in late November 2005.
